For Licensed Financial Institutions

Authorisation, reporting obligations, supervisory guidance and complaint-handling expectations for Licensed Financial Institutions.

Complaint-handling expectations

Handle complaints in-house first

Consumers are expected to raise an issue with the institution before it reaches the OFC. Firms should be able to receive, log and respond to complaints directly.

Respond to information requests

When a complaint is assigned, the institution is asked to provide its account of events and supporting records within the timeframe set on the case.

Keep contact details current

Case correspondence is sent to the contacts registered for your institution. Out-of-date contacts delay resolution.

Act on outcomes

Where a complaint results in remedial action, the institution is expected to implement and evidence it.
